Warming Up

It's certainly warming up these days. The weather, I mean. And it is high time that it did. Anyway I took the beach test, and was surprised how spot on the results are.

What the Beach Test Says About You

You are a loner, and you're fine with that. You find the most fulfillment in solitude. And you never feel more lonely than when you're in a crowd.

You fall in love with ease and confidence. Even if you've had bad experiences in the past, each new love is a reason to start completely over.

You are deeply passionate about several things in your life. You're not passionate about much... and the few passions you have are truly obsessions.

Your sense of humor is intellectual and obscure. Only really well educated people get your jokes.

Party Planning

After attending all these parties of late, I am quite keen on preparing for Erin's second birthday party in March, even as early as now. I am slowly gathering digiscrapping freebies so I can slowly design her invitation. I would also have to go through several used cds, to check out photos which I can use for her invite. I am also vowing never to cook anymore after having had to go through nightmare bouts in the kitchen during her baptism and first birthday. Instead we will just hire a venue that also serves good food. And this time, we are just inviting only a handful of people. It is such a big mission to accomplish, but nothing is impossible! I try to be just optimistic about it, and having fun while I am at it. :)

You Are Fall!

Thoughtful

Expressive

Creative

Poetic

Smart

Err... I must be on the wrong hemisphere! But yeah, I doooo agree with all of the above! :)

Toy Talk

Now that hubby and I have already decided on what to give each other for Christmas, I think it is time as well to brainstorm for the little girl. Erin loves books. She is curious about all the pictures inside it, but she tends though to tear the pages once she's done with all of them. Now I am not sure whether to get her personalized books or the usual educational toys instead. Oh, and another criteria is not to get any of those branded ones. I don't want her to get too attached to any one brand and see hordes of toys of the same character in our house. We want intellectually stimulating toys which will keep her busy for hours. :)

Sweet Tooth

Oh and speaking of parties, they are never complete without the birthday cake or desserts. As some have already volunteered to get the cake (two even), we decided to just bring mamon, a Filipino sponge cake. It's a bit more sweet and buttery than the regular sponge cake. It's a personal favorite of mine.

But sadly I do not know how to make it. I found a simple recipe on Recipe Zaar and will try to give it a go within the week, and see what I come up. In the meantime, we ordered two dozens from a Filipino friend here in Canberra who owns a cakeshop by the name of Cake Lovers. She makes really good designer cakes as well.

Checking our options

We are supposed to attend a birthday picnic for lunch today but with the gloomy weather outside, it seems we are going to do the celebrating indoors. No fun at all!

It is a double celebration really. Two of our friends are having their birthdays this week, and to make it more fun (not to mention economical), they decided to just have one party. It was difficult to shop for these guys, as we are not really sure what would want for gifts, considering that they could very well afford anything they wanted. I reckon it took us a week to go around the shops and finally settle on something. We initially considered clothes, watches, and other personal items. But we eventually decided on getting homeware items. But I think we did choose the right ones. Hopefully, they will think the same too. :)
