Guys and their games

What is it with boys and their video games? My brothers and the boyfriends of my sisters seem to get along well when they are in front of the PC or an xbox 360. I guess it is pretty much the same when they all get together to watch a game of basketball or footy. Guys will be guys. If they have their games, we have our shopping madness, I suppose. Now I think that is good analogy to understand the matter easier. :)

Drawing to a close

Well, what do you know? The first half of the year's gone and before we know it, it's already Christmas. Where did the time go? All this catching up with friends and relatives, shopping and visits to the doctors and dentist definitely has filled our schedule to the brim. After a weekful of activities, it just hit me that our long vacation has now been reduced to a mere three weeks as of this writing. I guess this only means that we would have to maximize what is left of our time here, before we head back to reality that is Oz. Such is life.

Being Sentimental

I was watching The Notebook last night on Cable TV, and felt oh so sentimental. I've read the book by Nicholas Sparks on which it was based on and have noticed how tragic sometimes the plot is in his stories. As he is from North Carolina, all the settings for his novels are located there.

Anyway, in the movie last night, it showed how the male lead rebuilt the house that his father left him, with his own bare hands. He wanted to put it in the market of probably Wilmington NC real estate to be sold, but he just could not get to part with it, even when a good offer was given. I think he was being sentimental too, in the same way that I am about my grandparents' house here in Manila. It holds a lot of wonderful memories and I don't think I am just ready to part with it if the time comes.

Feast 195

Time to catch up on one of my favorite memes.

Appetizer
What is the weather like today where you live?
Hot and humid. I wish it would rain.

Soup
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how career-minded are you?
Probably a 5. I was never that career-minded. I am happy to have a regular but stable job that pays for my wants and needs.

Salad
What type of window coverings do you have in your home? Blinds, curtains, shutters, etc.?
Back in Oz, we have heavy curtains. We’re planning to get them replaced with blinds so we can enjoy our wonderful view of the hills better.

Main Course
Name something that instantly cheers you up.
Seeing my adorable daughter smile. Her smile just lights up any room.

Dessert
How many times do you hit the snooze button on a typical morning?
We don’t have an alarm clock in our room so we never had to press the snooze button. Erin and I always get to sleep in late. Just one of the perks of a stay-at-home mom.

Happy weekend everyone!

Price to Pay

While at the salon earlier today, I kept myself busy by reading all these gossip magazines that they offered me. Good, I said to myself, as I think I've been way behind in the latest gossip of the local stars here. Well, true enough, I found a wealth of information as I turned one page after the next. Gosh, these personalities sure have lots of things going for them. They get to earn big bucks for endorsements, shows and movie appearances and may even have their own private jet charter. What a life, eh? But at the other end of the spectrum, they also have their share scandals and the big loss of privacy. Now, that is the price they have to pay. I certainly don't want to be in their shoes.

New Goal

I can't believe it is already June and we've already been here for two whole weeks. Where did the time go? And, in that two weeks, I was finally able to pamper myself. So far, I had a massage, foot spa, hair cut and treatment, pretty much like a mini makeover. Now all I need to do is lose weight. The food here has been awesome and it's been difficult trying to resist all the temptations. Ideally, regular visits to the gym is in mind. I hope I don't become too desperate to even try Phentermine, just to reach my goal. We'll see.

Bad Blogger

I've been a bad blogger of late, as you may have noticed. There is so much stuff happening here at home that I hardly have time to update all of my blogs. Well, I guess I really should find more time so I don't go AWOL on the blogosphere, especially since the opps keep pouring in. I certainly don't want to lose any of them as I need all the help I can get (financially speaking, that is).

Car Fanatic

My brother R is a car fanatic. He loves all things about cars, which is obvious with how he takes care about his own automobile. He's always on the look out for new ways to improve his car. So it is no wonder if he starts talking about car parts (like Ford grills) and trends every now and then. I reckon he talks about cars as much as I do about blogging. :)

What My Fridge Says About Me

What Your Fridge Says About You

You like to be surrounded by things you love. You aren't exactly greedy, but you can be materialistic at times.

You tend to be a fairly thrifty person. You splurge occasionally, but you're mostly a saver.

You don't tend to be a very adventurous person, but you do surprise everyone now and then. You have a bit of a wild side.

You try to be responsible, but you don't always succeed. Your heart is in the right place though.

You are likely married, possibly with kids.

Fairly accurate! :)

Watchamacallit

One of the things that I love about the Philippines are its malls. Yes, you can never have enough of them. And it is part of a Filipino's culture, I reckon, this idea of malling. Of course, shopping is most ideal because you get value for your money especially if you are earning in dollars and spending in peso.

A perfect example was when we visited the nearby mall this afternoon. J wanted to have the straps of his watches fixed as they had come undone. While he was attending to his watches, my mom wandered over to the new pocket watches section. He joined us a few minutes late. We were expecting that he would be charged a couple hundred pesos but to our pleasant surprise, he was only billed 25 pesos. I suppose he was only charged for labor but still it costed only less than a dollar if converted to foreign currency. Cheap-o! Now, that's money truly well spent! :)

Mini Makeovers

The house is ours! Yes, the exchange of contracts transpired a week ago and we are just now waiting for settlement. When we get back, we can go full blast on doing any modifications that our home needs. Apart from the curtains that I honestly abhor, we may consider getting exterior shutters to provide extra protection and insulation. I actually am excited because there are a thousand and one projects that we can think of to make our house really our own.

Getting the Groove Back

Travelling 11 hours on the plane and trying to settle in has certainly taken a toll on my online work. I've only been able to update things and check emails and more work, but have not really seriously gotten down to accomplishing them all just yet. It's hard to get back into the swing of things, especially if you're on holidays and you've still work to get done whether or not you are on vacation. But I am getting there.
